Josh Weiss

Retail & Investment Sales Specialist

I specialize in tenant, landlord and investor representation throughout the Philadelphia region, with a focus on Center City and its surrounding neighborhoods.  I enjoy the variety and diverse exposure of working in an urban environment.  I have represented some of the largest mixed-use developments in the city and facilitated transactions with institutional ownership groups such as Brown Hill Development, Realen Properties, Kushner Companies, Ashkenzy Acquisition Corporation, APF Properties, Buccini Pollin Group and Interpark Corporation.  I also advise religious, not-for-profit and cultural institutions such as the Mormon Church, the Philadelphia Chinatown Development Corporation (PCDC) and the Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters. I also enjoy dedicating time to relationships with local investors in order to maximize the value of their portfolio.

I started my professional career with Susquehanna International Group (SIG), where I traded equities, options and commodities, as well as managed the firm’s Institutional Equity Desk. With this background, I have a true appreciation of the value of information, an analytical approach to weighing risk vs. reward and the art of structuring a deal so that the needs of all parties are incorporated into the transaction.  Additionally, my fifteen years of experience in personal real estate investment affords me the opportunity to see transactions through the eyes of my clients, and together with my prior career in finance, puts me in a unique position to add great value to my transactions.

It is rewarding to help retailers responsibly and strategically grow their businesses, while at the same time counseling landlords on their long-term financial stability and investment strategies. I work with clients to achieve superior results by focusing not solely on the economic terms of a transaction but also on the qualitative impact that amenities, activation and vibrancy can add to the value of their portfolio and the surrounding neighborhood.

I interact with a wide array of clients and stakeholders - retailers and restaurateurs, architects and developers, not-for-profits and city agencies. This diverse exposure allows me to analyze transactions, developments, policies and relationships through the lens of where the marketplace is going rather than where it is or has been.

Not Work

I am a Philadelphia native who followed the Fab Five to the University of Michigan where I graduated with a major in Economics and a minor in Tomfoolery. After college I returned to Philadelphia and have lived in Center City for two decades. I live with my wife and two sons in a brownstone near Rittenhouse Square. We use the Square and other parks as our back yard which keeps us out of the house and active! In my free time I choose live music over the movies and family time over golf. I am an active member of the Center City Residents Association (CCRA) and a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and Share Food Program.

My wife and I were married in a beautiful and intimate ceremony in Florence, Italy with family at our side. Upon our return we hosted a raging costume party to celebrate with friends.
